Supporting Educators in the Coming Months

In response to school closures in NYC and Boston and other emergency measures being taken at the city, state, and national level to reduce the spread of COVID-19, Eskolta is taking the following steps to protect our collective health and support the educators we work with as they are asked to adapt to online learning in the coming weeks and months:

  1. Working remotely: As of March 11th, the Eskolta team has been working remotely, and is available to connect with partners and teams via email, phone, and video call.
  2. Canceling in-person convenings: All in-person group convenings, including Eskolta Network intervisitations, convenings, and regular team meetings are being postponed or moved to video/phone call to protect the health and safety of all. We will explore rescheduling or rethinking some of these meetings where appropriate.
  3. Supporting educators: Knowing the teachers, counselors, and principals who we have worked with for years are being asked to quickly and dramatically change the way they teach, we are actively adapting our work to support our program partners. Whether this is by helping educators rethink lessons and design online learning, sharing ideas for making the most of an online environment for professional collaboration and meetings, or by serving as a thought partner on new and pressing issues, we are rethinking how we support our partners.

We would like to recognize educators throughout our community for the invaluable work they do to support young people and the role this plays in keeping our world turning. The commitment, care, and thought they bring to this is especially felt during this moment of crisis.

We are here to support you and look forward to finding out new and responsive ways to continue this work together.
